We coated both sides to help protect from the eliments. I replaced some of these boards 2 or 3 years ago because of carpenter ants.

Some of this are had to be repaced due to insect damage.

These are the strips from above and behind the 2x12 facing.

This is the front of the house from the street.

This is the finished product with (3) coats of a 50/50 mixture of Thompson sealer and boiled lenseed oil with a quart of Read oak stain.
